Itinerary
You will begin in the capital city of Hanoi where you will be introduced to a rich tapestry of people, food, history, and culture. You’ll make your way east to the beautiful and tranquil Halong Bay where you’ll cruise on turquoise seas through breathtaking natural scenery. Next, you’ll travel to the ancient city of Hoian, full of history and timeworn temples.
In Nha Trang, you can relax on sun-kissed beaches or snorkel with jewel-toned fish as they dart through a forest of coral. From there you’ll head to old Ho Chi Minh where you’ll have an opportunity to explore the war tunnels of Cu Chi, drift down the mighty Mekong River, and immerse yourself in the vibrant heart of the south. Your last stop will be the pristine beaches of Phu Quoc Island, with white sands and perfect waters there’s no better end to an incredible holiday.
Upon arrival, you will be met outside the baggage claim area by your friendly driver who will escort you to a waiting vehicle for your transfer to downtown with a brief introduction en route.
Your driver will be holding a welcome signboard with the Sun Getaways Travel Logo & your name. We’ll get you to your hotel and see that you’re comfortable, plus we’ll give you an introduction to the city at the same time. Then the rest of the day is yours to settle in, relax, and explore the area.
Night 1: Overnight in hotel in Hanoi

After breakfast at your hotel. At about 8:00 am, our friendly tour guide will pick you up at your hotel and then visit the capital of Vietnam, a city that celebrated 1.000 years in 2010 and has countless fascinating cultural and historic sites and our day tour will visit the highlights.
Firstly visit Tran Quoc pagoda then go to visit Ho Chi Minh Complex; Ho Chi Minh’s mausoleum, (Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum and Museum is closed on Monday and Friday and from 15th June to 2nd Oct, you can view it from outside). This used to be the residence of the Governor of Indochina. After 1954 it was named the Presidential Palace and became the place where Ho Chi Minh lived and worked until he passed away in 1969. On the way out visit the One Pillar Pagoda. The pagoda was constructed in 1049 by King Ly Thai Tong according to his dream of Bodhisattva sitting on a lotus flower and leading him to the pagoda. In 1954, the pagoda was destroyed by the French before their withdrawal.
Arrive at the Temple of Literature. This is the combination of the Confucius Temple which was built in 1070 and the first Royal National University in Vietnam built 6 years later in 1076. Considered as ‘an escape’ from the bustling city, this temple and its beautiful garden provide an opportunity to learn more about education in Vietnam since 1000 years ago until recent times. Enjoy a delicious lunch in a local restaurant with traditional local Vietnamese Cuisine. After lunch, continue to visit more interesting museums.
There are some options that you can choose from such as the Ethnology Museum (Close on Monday), the Museum of Vietnamese History the Hoa Lo Prison Museum, and the Women’s Museum. Located west of the city centre, all of the museums offer informative and well-documented displays of the country’s heritage.
Then visit Long Bien bridge – a historic cantilever bridge across the Red River that connects two districts, Hoan Kiem and Long Bien of the city of Hanoi. It was originally called Paul Doumer Bridge.
At the end of the day, experience the magic of a water puppet show at a traditional theater in Hanoi. Gain fascinating insight into the origin of water puppetry from your guide then take a seat to witness a 50-minute performance that offers a unique glimpse into traditional Vietnamese culture. We will return to your hotel. You will have free time and overnight at hotel in Hanoi.
Night 2: Overnight in hotel in Hanoi

Following breakfast at the hotel, Sun Getaways Travel will come to pick you up around 08h00 am with our shuttle bus to start the 3-hour-and-a-half drive to Halong Bay through the paddy fields in the Red River Delta.
Arrive at Tuan Chau Island – Take a break and a Welcome drink at the Cruise Lounge.
Welcome drink – receive cruise briefing, safety instructions and check-in. Start cruising and explore Halong Bay – one of the New Seven Wonders of Nature. Enjoy a buffet lunch with Vietnamese dishes served while cruising through the bay, passing the most beautiful and quiet areas, such as Incense Burner, Dog Stone Islet, Fighting Cock, Soi Sim Beach, and Coconut Three Island.
Visiting the Tung Gau area is covered by leaping rocks and cultured pearl fishery. You can watch the process of the jewel, from culturing to harvesting and sculpting, Moreover, you have a chance to do kayaking based on your preference. Enjoy a busy space with a pearl maker, you can experience the completion of a pearl.
Visiting the beautiful Ti Top beach for swimming (if the weather permits), Ti Top Beach is especially famous for its fresh atmosphere, clean water, and smooth white sand that create a great ambiance for tourists to relax or passengers can take steps to reach on the top of Ti Top beach to have a whole panorama view of Halong Bay. Back to the boat and free time while sailing to the Luon Bo area, and anchor overnight.
Attend the Cooking class on sundeck – How to make Vietnamese spring rolls – traditional Vietnamese food. Then enjoy Happy Hour (Buy one drink-get one free). It is time for relaxing. Watch the magnificent sunset over Halong Bay.
Dinner – Deluxe Vietnamese BBQ Set Menu Dinner
Evening activities include Leisure time to enjoy a chat around the bar, watching movies and many sorts of Vietnam cultural films, relaxing and spending a romantic night on Pelican Halong Cruise’s music, playing cards, chess are available, reading magazines in the room and dining room. You may also try your luck at squid fishing & fishing from the boat. End of Program for Day One.
Night 3: Overnight on Cruise

The day starts early onboard with a Tai Chi session on the sundeck. Tai chi also called Tai chi chuan, combines deep breathing and relaxation with slow and gentle movements. Coffee, tea and pastries for breakfast are served in the dining room with a morning view of the bay’s landscape.
Transfer by tender to Sung Sot Cave. Walk up about 100 steps to the cave entrance. It takes approximately 45 minutes for cave visiting. Visit Sung Sot Cave, one of the most biggest cave in Halong Bay with beautiful stalactites and stalagmites. Return to the boat by tender. Proper shoes are highly recommended.
Back to Cruise. Check out and have a buffet brunch while cruising back to the Tuan Chau Wharf. Relaxing on the sundeck or in the dining room enjoying the bay scenery while approaching the wharf.
Disembark to Tuan Chau Wharf. Say goodbye to the crew.
Return to Hanoi by minivan. Arrive in Hanoi at around 15h00.
Your driver will pick you up from the van on the way to Hanoi and transfer you to Noi Bai Airport for your flight to Danang. When you arrive in Danang, we’ll pick you up and transfer you to your hotel in Hoian.
Night 4: Overnight at hotel in Hoian

Breakfast at your hotel. The local guide pick you up and ride bicycles to Tra Que Village. Arrive in Tra Que, take around the vegetable village and join in the daily activities with local farmers there.
Then continue to take bicycles along the De Vong River to Hoi An Beach wharf. Embark on the boat to Cua Dai dune, enjoy the casting net show, and learn how to cast a net from a local fisherman.
Continue to Cam Thanh Water coconut village, and have a brief introduction to the history there. Take the basket boat along the water coconut river, the fisherman will teach you how to catch the crabs (02-pax/boat).
Divide the group into 2 teams for basketboat racing and catching crabs. There will be a lovely present for the winner. Embark on the boat, and enjoy the folk songs that will be shown by local people there. Enjoy special local food such as pancakes, Tam Huu spring rolls, fried fish …
After lunch, learn how to make funny tools by water coconut leaves. Continue to the ancient town, and experience the daily life of fisher man along the Thu Bon River. Then return to the hotel and free time for relaxing on Cua Dai Beach.
Night 5: Overnight in Hoian

Breakfast will be served at the hotel and afterward, you’ll explore the enchanting time-capsule town of Old Hoi An on a walking tour with your guide. Hoi An was a major seaport in Asia and it resulted in a fusion of style and culture that has been perfectly preserved.
Wander traditional Chinese shops, luxurious French homes, and an ancient Japanese bridge.
The town is home to silk markets, Vietnamese food stalls, and talented street performers– all of which are sure to charm you. Then spend the afternoon further exploring the town on your own or head down to Cua Dai Beach to relax.
Night 6: Overnight in Hoi An

Night 8: Overnight in hotel in Nha Trang

After your breakfast, the guide will take you to see the best spots in Nha Trang. You’ll visit the Vietnam Oceanographic Institute and Oceanography Museum, with its rich collection of sea creatures and interactive displays.
Then on to the Long Son Pagoda, the French colonial Nha Trang Cathedral, Hon Chong Promontory Rocks, and the Po Nagar Temple. The last stop of the day will be to the Dam Market to shop for local foods and goods and experience the culture.
Night 9: Overnight in hotel in Nha Trang

Breakfast at your hotel, free time until transfer to the airport for a flight to Ho Chi Minh City. Arrive in Ho Chi Minh City, we’ll get you to your hotel and then you can spend the evening exploring the bustling city of Ho Chi Minh. Ho Chi Minh is a city that never sleeps and offers a plethora of great restaurants and bars catering to all tastes, from street food vendors to the rooftop bar at the Rex Hotel, where international correspondents covered the Vietnam War and where the U.S. military attaché’s press briefing was held daily and dubbed the “Five O’clock Follies”.

Night 11: Overnight hotel in Ho Chi Minh

Morning, you will be picked up for driving to the remarkable Cu Chi tunnels, just outside Ho Chi Minh City. During the war “Viet Cong” guerillas built a labyrinth of narrow tunnels, using them to hide during bombing raids and stage surprise attacks. Transfer to Ho Chi Minh for lunch. After that, we enjoy a city tour that includes the War Remnants Museum and take a walking tour to the Reunification Palace, Notre Dame Cathedral, General Post office, Opera house, and downtown Saigon.
The War Remnants Museum was originally opened in September 1975, it displays old military equipment and other related items from the Vietnam War. In the courtyard, we will find some larger exhibits including an F5A fighter and a UH1-Huey helicopter. The Reunification Palace, formerly known as the Presidential Palace was the sight of South Vietnam’s surrender in April 1975. Notre Dame Cathedral, General Post Office, and the Opera House are beautiful examples of architecture from the French colonial period. We have last time to visit Ben Thank Market. Back to the hotel and relax.
Night 12: Overnight in hotel in Ho Chi Minh

Breakfast at your hotel. The guide will pick you up and transfer you to Ben Tre. Pick up at Phong Nam Pier (Phong Nam old ferry station). Take the boat along the River – one of the tributaries of the Mekong River, Sight-seeing lively activities along the river as fishing, water transferring. Stop at brickwork – coconut charcoal making and coconut husking.
Then visit one of the plenty of coconut processing workshops where coconut candies are made and have a chance to learn the coconut candies-making process located along the canal. Turn on natural scissors creeks where they look smaller and smaller to go to the village.
Take a walk to the family making sleep mats. Afterward, being on a cart powered by a motorbike or biking and traveling through some tranquil villages where vegetable gardens to be able to touch on real life and find out about tropical culture from Peasants.
Lunch at a local restaurant. Afternoon, take a bike around the village, rowing boat along water palm creek and boat to Hung Vuong Pier. Then take a car to Can Tho. Arrive in Can Tho, check in hotel and free time.
Night 13: Overnight in hotel in Can Tho

You’ll take a leisurely boat trip in the morning to explore the picturesque tributaries of the Lower Mekong River, then visit the vibrant Cai Rang floating market. See how the popular Vietnamese dish, rice vermicelli soup, is made and enjoy a delicious meal.
Then we’ll take you to the airport for a flight to Phu Quoc island. We’ll pick you up when you arrive and take you to your hotel, then the afternoon is yours to relax on the famously beautiful island beach. Phu Quoc has a lot to offer. In addition to featuring its spectacular beach, this charming island is home to local villages whose way of life has remained unchanged throughout generations.
Excursions by car through the island’s interior reveal small neighborhoods where the famed Phu Quoc fish sauce is made, sprawling pepper plantations, and dozens of tiny fishing hamlets.
Night 14: Overnight in hotel in Phu Quoc

You’ll have breakfast at the hotel and some morning free time, then we’ll come to pick you up and take you to the airport for a flight back to Ho Chi Minh City.
When you arrive in HCMC we’ll collect you and transfer you to your hotel, then you have the day to spend as you’d like.
Night 17: Overnight in hotel in Ho Chi Minh city
