Planning a trip to Phu Quoc? Getting around the beautiful island is key for a great time. We’ve got your back with easy tips on how to move around hassle-free. Whether you’re alone, with friends, or family, let’s explore the simple ways to make your Phu Quoc adventure smooth and fun. Ready to discover the best transportation for your trip? Let’s roll!

1. Ways to get to Phu Quoc

1.1. From Ho Chi Minh City

By Flight (1 Hour):

If you are looking for a fast and convenient way to get to Phu Quoc, let’s take a flight. However, this is also the most expensive kind of transport. So, consider your budget and time constraints when making your decision.

  • Airlines: VietJet Air, Bamboo Airways, Jetstar Pacific, Vietnam Airlines
  • With approximately 30 flights per day, hopping on a plane is the quickest way to start your island adventure.

By Bus and Boat:

Going by bus or boat is slower (5-6 hours in average) and less convenient than plane, so it is suitable for people who have a lot of time or want to experience another type of transportation. A plus point for this type is that it is very cheap, so it is suitable for budget travel, especially for students.

  • Via Ha Tien: For the shortest and fastest route, take a bus and ferry from Ho Chi Minh City to Phu Quoc via Ha Tien.
  • Via Rach Gia: If you have time to spare, the bus and ferry route via Rach Gia offers a scenic journey but takes about 8 hours.

 1.2. From Ha Noi

Different from departing from Ho Chi Minh, there is only way to go from Ha Noi to Phu Quoc, which is by flight. Several airlines offer direct flights between the two cities, including: Vietnam Airlines, VietJet Air, Bamboo Airways. With a flight time of approximately 2.5 hours, you can be on the beautiful beaches of Phu Quoc in no time.

2.1. Opt for renting a motorbike

Renting a motorbike is the most cost-effective and versatile way to travel around Phu Quoc. Many high-end and mid-range hotels in Phu Quoc offer motorbike rental services. Alternatively, motorbikes can be rented from various shops at prices between VND 120,000 and VND 200,000 per day, depending on the motorbike model. Remember that in the rainy season, some roads get muddy and slippery. If you lack motorcycle-riding skills and experiences, you might get stuck easily.
