Bac Ninh is an ancient land, full of myths, legends, poems, rhymes… and specially knows for the land of traditional folk singing (Quan ho). Duration: 7-8 hours
8.30: Pick up at your hotel and depart for Bac Ninh – the land of Northern Vietnam’s Folk Music (Quan ho). First stop visit to But Thap Pagoda, a Buddhist relic with the characteristic architecture of Le Trung Hung period, here kept 32 national treasures that are only announced recently in 2012.
*Continue and stop by a local resident near But Thap Pagoda, have a refreshing cup of green tea, then hop on a bike and cycling along the banks of the dreamy Duong river, long slopes of dike, endlessly green mulberry fields and enjoy the fresh air (during September – October is the green mustard blooming season when you’ll get a chance to witness a splendid yellow flower field).
We’ll pass by A Lu, Dai Dong Thanh commune and visit the tomb of Kinh Duong Vuong – who founded the first ever government of Vietnam.
After that, go on to Dong Ho painting village, take a refreshing drink at the home of Nguyen Dang Che – a local artist and hear about the tradition and history of the craftmen. Have lunch at the local family in Bac Ninh.
Afternoon, you’ll take a closer look at the history of the village, and the process of making a Dong Ho paintings – explore the Vietnamese traditional art crafted by the hands of farmers. You also have chance to go around the art crafting village, take a closer look at the local craftmen’s lives.
15.30: Get on car/bus to return to Hanoi, stop by Chua Dau (mulberry pagoda) – the most ancient pagoda of Vietnam built from (187 – 266 BC) with hundreds of worship rooms, 9 stories tower silhouetted on the Dau river.
16:30 End the tour at your hotel.
