Fansipan is the highest mountain in Vietnam and for that reason also quite literally the biggest highlight. In the past, you could only get to the top by climbing for 2 or 3 days. And although this is still possible, today there is a cable car that takes you from the cable car station in Sapa to the top of Fansipan in 15 minutes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A number of temples and pagodas that you can visit have now also been built around the top of the mountain. On clear days you have a great view of the mountains in the area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sapa Weather<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The best time to visit Sapa is in September and October when the rice terraces are at their most splendid; or in April and May when the weather is ideal and skies are clear. For those who don\u2019t mind hot weather, June to August is a fine time to visit. Expect chilly weather from November to March.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sapa Transport<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Overnight trains are the most popular way to reach Sapa via the neighboring province capital, Lao Cai. Upon arrival, transfer vans finish the journey up the mountains. Alternatively, regular buses and shuttle vans run from Hanoi with a journey time of five to six hours, stopping in the center of town. As a former hill station, Sapa has plenty of steep roads and pathways. Many visitors get around by foot, or by taxi.
