2. Best Times to Visit for Good Weather<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Northern Region<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

The best time to travel to Northern Vietnam is from September to April <\/strong>next year. During these months, the weather is pleasant and favorable for outdoor activities. There are many exiting festivals also. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The rice terraces are at their best during the harvesting season from September to October. You may experience some thunderstorms during these months.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

From December to February, the weather can be quite chilly with fog and drizzles, while from June to August, it can be hot and humid with occasional heavy rain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWhen the monsoon hits, it is hard and heavy and very humid,\u201d says Matthews, who suggests sightseeing in cities during the wet season, where you can still visit museums and historic temples between rainstorms. \u201cAvoid the mountainous region of Sa Pa and definitely don\u2019t book a cruise in Ha Long Bay, as storms will occur and boats are grounded,\u201d she warns. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you do decide to travel during the rainy season, it\u2019s best to remain flexible in your planning, says Kreuz. \u201cConsider not booking everything in advance due to unpredictable weather,\u201d he says, adding that staying open-minded may help you to take advantage of potential low-season discounts. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tet, which marks the Vietnamese Lunar New Year, is another tricky time to visit, as many landmarks and businesses close for a week or more to celebrate. It typically lands in late January or early February \u2014 this year, it falls on Feb. 10. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
